RESEARCH ON THE SUITABILITY OF MICRO-LOCATION OF BUDGET HOTEL: A CASE STUDY ON JINJIANG INN IN SHANGHAI CENTRAL CITY |

Abstract Based on the background of the high speed development of budget hotel, the relevant literature is studied. The authors have focuses on the following issues. Firstly, combining the criteria of selecting the hotel location reported in the literature review and considering the characteristics of budget hotel, the authors have chosen four factors, namely, the social economic foundation, the traffic condition, the commercial factor and the public service affecting the location of budget hotel. Secondly, the researchers have set up the method and procedure of the suitability evaluation of the micro-location of budget hotels comprehensively making use of entropy weight method and weighted average method. Thirdly, the authors have used buffer analysis to evaluate the value of evaluation index, spatial interpolation to suitability of newly built budget hotel in certain district, and Tyson polygon partition to market domain to assess the overall location. Finally, the paper has carried out an empirical analysis having the 8 districts of the central city of Shanghai, as the study area and 33 Jinjiang inns in the area as the research object in order to evaluate location, assess the suitability of specific inn location and suggest the new inn location. The results show that they are suitable for the location of JinJiang Inn in the district of Huangpu, Jingan, the northern part of Xuhui and the south of Zhabei; Higher suitability is along Yan'an elevated road, inner ring elevated road and central elevated road; and most of the micro-location of JinJiang Inn stores are reasonable.
